GENERAL

Phaeries are a small, social flitter species that propagates readily and are easy to tame and breed in captivity. They come in a limitless variety of flashy colors and patterns.

They are omnivorous and feed mostly on fruit, flower, and nectar. Their high metabolisms require a great deal of calorie-dense sugar to maintain.

Phaeries communicate with a variety of high pitched chirps, hisses, and croons.

TEMPERAMENT

Gregarious little creatures, phaeries are easy to tame and make affectionate pets. They are often curious, outgoing, and accepting of strangers, and love to spend their time showing off their dazzling acrobatics to anyone willing to watch. Wild-caught phaeries are more likely to be shy and show aggressive tenancies, but most of the pet-trade is made up of hatchlings bred in captivity.

ABILITIES

Healing Magic - phaeries can heal small wounds and injuries, but this is quite taxing
Sleep Dust - dust from their wings can be used as a mild sedative, but should be used with caution

BREEDING

Phaeries love to breed and they are very good at it! Get any two phaeries together in a room and they'll likely begin displaying mating dances almost immediately. They impress one another with elegant flights and displays of aerial athleticism.

Phaery eggs are soft and delicate and need to be handled with care. A female can lay up to 5 eggs at once, and will carefully tend to her nest. Hatchlings are mobile and able to feed themselves, but their wings are too weak and small to carry them until they reach sexual maturity. Phaery hatchlings remain arboreal and rely on their excellent climbing skills to survive.
